LOS ANGELES, CA, February 4, 2019 (Newswire.com) - The Law Office of Robert M. Helfend is proud to announce that Harvard Law student Kiah Duggins has won the 2019 Robert M. Helfend Criminal Defense Scholarship.
The award is given annually to a law school student who is pursuing a career in criminal defense and demonstrates the selflessness, hard work and dedication it requires to succeed in the field.
With her passion for justice, extensive background in public service and drive to serve people in traditionally underserved communities, Ms. Duggins was selected as this year’s winner.
“Her essay exhibited fantastic drive and motivation in my chosen field of criminal defense law,” Mr. Helfend said. “We wish the best of luck to Kiah in all her future endeavors.”
The law scholarship is valued at $500 and is open to any current or incoming law school student planning to pursue a career in criminal defense. Applicants are asked to submit a cover letter, proof of enrollment and a short essay to be considered.
Mr. Helfend practices criminal defense in the Los Angeles area since 1984, representing a range of clients in more than three decades in the courtroom. He attended the University of California-Berkeley as an undergraduate and completed his law degree at the Pepperdine University School of Law.
